The Players Championship is widely considered to be the fifth major golf tournament, and the winner is immediately considered one of golf's top players. But this title has evaded some of the best players of all time. Here is a list of the Hall of Fame golfers who can't be called The Players Champion (players whose careers peaked before the inaugural season (1974) of this tournament weren't considered, such as Ben Hogan and Arnold Palmer).

Known as "Gentle Ben," Crenshaw had a very successful professional career. He won the Masters twice, but was never able to win The Players Championship. His best finish was second in 1980.
