Plain and simple, Tiger Woods is the most exciting player to watch in golf. Even if he isn’t going to win the Open, he still provides plenty of great entertainment. If that wasn’t the case, then the views for tournaments wouldn’t go way up when Woods is part of the field.

Rory McIlroy is the closest thing to a superstar that golf has outside of Tiger Woods. After this weekend, McIlroy will be getting a bunch of attention, assuming he doesn’t blow his huge lead. Regardless, Woods is still a great golfer, he just needs more time to get his game back.

The thought of Tiger breaking Jack Nicklaus’ record is intriguing in itself. Although he would need an absolute miracle to get one major closer to Nicklaus this weekend, at least he is back from his injury. This may come as a huge shocker, but the only way you can win majors is by playing in them. Well, this was Woods’ first major of the year.

At this point, hopefully fans know that Tiger isn’t going to win the Open. He sits at plus-3 and Rory McIlroy is at minus-16. Huge difference. Still, Woods playing in the Open Championship gives him hope for the future. There is still one major left this season, and Tiger will be more prepared for that one. Also, hopefully he will be healthy for the rest of his career now, which is probably the biggest factor for him breaking Nicklaus’ record.
