Some golf rules don’t make a ton of sense.
Jacksonville University’s David Wicks accidentally dropped his ball after marking it on the green and it rolled into the water.
The rules state that a player must finish with the same ball he started with so Wicks was forced to go swimming for his ball in water that has been known to be home to alligators.
To make matters worse, David never found the ball and was forced to take a two-stroke penalty anyways.
Here’s the wild story we just discussed on @GCMorningDrive: A ball in the water, a 5-min swim and a #NCAAGolf berth: https://t.co/TnLbaYSTYq pic.twitter.com/SIHbrLpfHZ
