KANSAS CITY, Missouri – With the recent knee injury suffered by Green Bay Packers wide receiver Greg Jennings, there may be one benefactor ready to take advantage—Jordy Nelson.

Jennings would suffer a knee injury during the Packers 46-16 rout of the Oakland Raiders, and the fourth-year wide receiver out of Kansas State would step up in a big way.

Nelson would finish with three catches for 81 yards and one touchdown.

With the (13-0) Packers set to play NFC North rivals (8-5) Chicago and (7-6) Detroit the last two weeks of the season, can Nelson step in and become the top receiver for Aaron Rodgers and the Packers offense in Jennings’ absence.

Nelson currently ranks 11th among NFL wide receivers and leads Green Bay in receiving with 957 yards and touchdowns with ten.

Nelson also averages 18.7 yards per reception for the Packer’s high-flying offense, making him the Wes Welker to Rodgers Brady.

However, playing in an offense that features the likes of Donald Driver, James Jones and Randall Cobb, Nelson—despite his proven ability to be a producer—may never get the chance.

The 6’3, 217-pound 26 year old Nelson has all of the attributes to be a #1 wide receiver in the NFL as he runs great routes, has reliable hands and always seems to come up with a clutch catch or a big play downfield.

Despite having—what appears to be—a nice rapport with Rodgers, playing in such a wide-open and explosive Packers offense may be more of a curse than blessing for Nelson.

Nelson has the ability and potential to emerge as the top wideout in Green Bay, the question that remains is that with Jennings sidelined, will Nelson get the chance to prove himself?
