If the Green Bay Packers want Charles Woodson on the team next season they will have to pay him a $4 million roster bonus in April and a $1 million roster bonus for games he’s active next season. If the Packers do not pay Woodson what he is due he will become a free agent.

Woodson is set to make $11.5 in salary and bonuses which includes the $4 million roster bonus. Other players that are due roster bonuses are Tramon Williams ($2.8 million), Josh Sitton ($2.4 million), Donald Driver ($2.2 million), Jordy Nelson ($1.7 million), John Kuhn ($450,000), Ryan Pickett ($406,250), Greg Jennings ($400,000) and Nick Collins ($300,000).

I would expect the Packers to pay the roster bonuses because it is clear they cannot afford to lose any of these key players. Green Bay will also have to decide which free agents they are able to sign and who they can let go.

Jermichael Finley, Matt Flynn, Scott Wells, Jarrett Bush, Ryan Grant, Howard Green, Pat Lee and Erik Walden will all become free agents in March unless the Packers resign them.

For being a 15-1 team, Ted Thompson and Mike McCarthy will have a lot of important decisions to make in order to improve for the 2012-13 football season.
