Report: Houston Texans Will Aggressively Pursue Free Agent CB Nnamdi Asomugah
After all that talk (from me) earlier this week that the Houston Texans should go after a lesser named corner not named Nnamdi Asomugah and instead make room for multiple additions in the secondary, a source told NFL.com’s Jason La Canfora that the Texans are going to aggresively pursue the highest priced free agent on the market.
I just have one suggestion—they’d better have a plan B.
Asomugah is definitely the most talked about free agent and will be pursued by multiple teams. He will obviously have his pick of the litter, and hopefully Wade Phillips being the new defensive coordinator will be enough to entice Asomugah.
Last year’s defense certainly isn’t helping their case. The Texans were the worse pass defense in the NFL, largely due to the fact that Dunta Robinson signed with the Falcons for six years and $57 million.
I could sign off on this if I truly believed the Texans could afford to sign Asomugah and a top flight safety as well like Eric Weddle, Deon Grant, or Brodney Pool, but I don’t.
Hopefully I’m wrong.
