Pacers Roll In Boston with 87-74 Victory
After getting destroyed in Miami, the Pacers were looking to bounce back in Boston at the Garden as they face the Celtics. But could they actually win against Rondo, Pierce, Garnett, and Allen? Indiana hasn’t won in Boston since the Big Three formed in 2007.
But that wasn’t going to stop Indy, as they snapped the C’s four-game win-streak and their own streak of losing to Boston on the road for all these years with a 87-74 romp.
“We have confidence that we can beat any team in any building,” head coach Frank Vogel said. “We knew to win here we’d have to make it like an Eastern Conference playoff-type battle. Just grind it out, have defensive effort.”
Danny Granger still played a little poor, but was much better than what he did versus Miami, despite only putting up 15 points. Roy Hibbert produced yet another double-double, with eleven points and twelve rebounds.
The game started out really ugly, as it was tied at 14 after the first quarter. It was 33-25 at halftime! It was an ugly showing by both offenses. Indy shot 40.5%, but then again, their defense played solid versus Boston, as they were held to 39.4% along with a franchise-low for points at halftime.
George Hill and Tyler Hansbrough came up solid off the bench, both scoring 13 points and twelve points.
“I feel like things are going great. I’m not worried about my shot,” Granger said. “We are already playing well. We’re only going to be better. … We’re so talented across the board — I’m talking 1 through 8 — we have guys that could start on other teams. I’m excited.”
Ray Allen put up 23 points for Boston, but it wasn’t enough for the C’s to pull it out. Granger played solid defense on Paul Pierce, holding him to ten points along with 3-of-17 from the field.
As I said in my game preview, we were going to see how David West going to perform. He only put it up two points, but yet ten rebounds. However, most of them were off the big misses from Boston. But as we see it, you can why West picked Indiana as the better option. Along with that, the guy was booed every time he touched the ball in this game.
Indiana will head back home today in Conseco as they will host the Charlotte Bobcats. I look to a win as Indiana improves to 6-2.
