Indiana Pacers Continue to Roll, Defeat the Philadelphia 76ers
The Indiana Pacers won a NBA league-high sixth game in a row on Tuesday night, by defeating the Philadelphia 76ers. The 76ers are fighting for their playoff lives, barely hanging on to the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference playoff standings. Philadelphia is scrapping for the final playoff spot in the East, battling at the bottom, with the Milwaukee Bucks and the New York Knicks. Indiana is holding tight near the top of the conference, and is trying to lock up the third seed in the Eastern playoffs. Although the Pacers are several spots in front of the 76ers, Bucks, and Knicks, they have a lot of influence in the final Eastern Conference playoff standings.
The Pacers went to Philadelphia on Tuesday night, and defeated the 76ers by a score of 102-97. The loss was Philadelphia’s tenth defeat at home in their last sixteen home games. The 76ers were in the second game of a back-to-back-to-back, which will lead their team into five games away from home to end the regular season.
Although both teams shot poorly early on, they both scored often late in the game. Both teams began the game by shooting a mere 1-6 from the floor. The Pacers took a 34-point lead into halftime, which was their largest halftime lead in any game since the 1990 season. Indiana put up a 32-point fourth quarter to close out the 76ers, leaving Philadelphia in a must-win situation for much of the remaining games in the regular season. Indiana’s fifth straight road win marked their longest road winning streak since 2004.
