2011 NFL Draft Picks: Indianapolis Colts
The Indianapolis Colts are coming off yet another season in which they finished on top of the AFC South, but still had plenty of areas in need of improvement heading into the 2011 NFL Draft. Here’s a look at the newest members of the Colts.
Boston College offensive tackle Anthony Castonzo: Round 1, Pick 22
The Colts wasted no time by addressing their need on the offensive line and got one of the best players from this year’s draft in Anthony Castonzo. Every reason in the world to love this pick.
Villanova guard Benjamin Ijalana: Round 2, Pick 49
Once again, the Colts addressing their need on the line and get a great athlete in Benjamin Ijalana–who was a four-year starter at Villanova. There’s a reason why the Colts were willing to trade up and snag this guy.
LSU defensive tackle Drake Nevis: Round 3, Pick 87
A great interior pass rusher that makes a great addition to the Colts’ defense. He recorded 57 tackles and six sacks as a senior.
Syracuse running back Delone Carter: Round 4, Pick 119
The Colts ranked near the bottom of the NFL with rushing yards last season–so they could always use help in the backfield. Delone Carter rushed for 2,254 yards and 20 touchdowns over the last two seasons.
Michigan State cornerback Chris Rucker: Round 6, Pick 188
An interesting pick by the Colts considering all of the off the field issues surrounding Chris Rucker. He still has a lot of work to do if he’s going to make an impact in the NFL.
