New York Jets Players Want Peyton Manning
Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning apparently has a new home if he wants it. Several New York Jets players bashed Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez on Tuesday and went as far as to say they’d like to have Manning in New York instead.
“We have to bring in another quarterback that will make [Sanchez] work at practice,” one undisclosed Jets player said. “He’s lazy and content because he knows he’s not going to be benched.”
Another player that the New York Daily News’ Manish Mehta called “well-respected” mentioned the Jets’ possession of Tom More, who was Manning’s offensive coordinator in Indianapolis when the Colts won the Super Bowl in 2006.
“We already have his coach — Tom Moore,” the player said. “Plus, he’s a field general and will get everyone lined up. He will get his playmakers the ball. We can win a Super Bowl with Peyton.”
Needless to say, a storm is brewing in New York. Obviously, Manning is still under contract with the Colts, but that might change after the team takes Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck with the first pick in the 2012 NFL Draft. As far as trading Sanchez and bringing in Manning, the Jets are all-in.
“Come on. That’s a no-brainer,” another undisclosed Jet said. “If you have a chance to get a healthy 36-year-old Peyton Manning and you don’t do it, then you’re stupid. If I could get a healthy 36-year-old Peyton Manning, then, hell yeah, I would trade Sanchez.”
