The Blaine Gabbert era is about to begin in Jacksonville.

According to reports, the Jaguars have decided to give Gabbert his first career start this Sunday when they play the Carolina Panthers.

Gabbert got his first real NFL playing time last week when he replaced Luke McCown after he threw four interceptions against the Jets. In his two series, Gabbert completed five of his six pass attempts for 52 yards.

Despite the fact that this Sunday’s game is on the road, this may be the most ideal game for Gabbert to get his first career NFL start. The Panthers defense is very weak against the run which should allow the Jaguars to control the clock and move the ball on the ground much like they did against the Titans.

With this move it appears that barring injury the job is Gabbert’s moving forward for the rest of the season.
