Over the past couple of seasons the biggest knock on the Jaguars offense has been their inability to attack deep down the field in their passing game, but now that the Jaguars have a new quarterback that could all change.

According to Tania Ganguli of The Florida Times-Union, the Jaguars have already opened up their playbook to take advantage of the talent of rookie quarterback Blaine Gabbert.

The biggest change will be the ability to take shots down the field in the passing game. While the Jaguars coaches may have questioned whether or not Gabbert was ready to play, they have never doubted his arm strength and his ability to zip the ball into tight windows.

“That’s a man’s throw,” Jaguars wide receiver Mike Thomas said of Gabbert. “I don’t think there’s a throw he can’t make.”

Despite his ability, the Jaguars will remain a run first team for the time being while Gabbert learns on the fly. However, if he is successful when he throws the ball down the field it will only stand to help soften opposing defenses and help open up rushing lanes for Maurice Jones-Drew.

I expect to see the Jaguars take a couple of deep shots in the game on Sunday, not because the have to but because they can.
