Jacksonville Jaguars Keep Mel Tucker, Hire Offensive Coordinator
New Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Mike Mularkey has wasted no time in finding his coordinators.
According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Mel Tucker has agreed to remain in Jacksonville as defensive coordinator and Falcons quarterbacks coach Bob Bratkowski has agreed to be the Jaguars new offensive coordinator.
Tucker turned down an offer to be the defensive coordinator for the Minnesota Vikings to remain in Jacksonville despite not being selected for the head coaching job. The Jaguars defense improved drastically in 2011 when Tucker took over the play calling duties and by all accounts is an extremely popular guy in the Jaguars locker room. He will undoubtedly be a head coach in the NFL, but keeping him in Jacksonville for the 2012 season should help the transition to a new head coach be a bit smoother.
Bratkowski was the offensive coordinator for the Cincinnati Bengals from 2001-2011. He spent last season with Mularkey in Atlanta as his quarterbacks coach.
