Alex Gordon really turned the corner in 2011 from potential bust to future All-Star, batting over .300, winning his first Gold Glove, and even earning some MVP votes. No doubt he is apart of the up and coming Kansas City Royals future. Both sides, Gordon and the Royals front office, are looking to get a deal done so he can be a part of that future but as of right now it doesn’t look like anything is close according to the Kansas City Star’s Bob Dutton . ..

Last I've heard is two sides aren't particularly close but talks remain cordial and both sides want to get something done, i.e., no change.

The Royals are a small market team and thus shy away from giving the big money deals, however, a deal similar to the three year $31.5 million Michael Cuddyer signed with Colorado for has been thrown around as a general frame work for a Gordon deal. This deal will get done, the only question now is, when?
