LOS ANGELES — The Los Angeles Clippers have hit the big time–sort of. They have hit the big stage. The “Clips” will enjoy a franchise-record of 30 nationally televised games this upcoming NBA season.

Hopefully, they can seize this opportunity while on the big stage to earn the respect and loyalty of the fans and establish themselves as a serious contender.

With such a solid young nucleus of Chris PaulBlake Griffin, and DeAndre Jordan the Clippers should be a legitimate contender for years to come. That is, if they don’t turn back into the Los Angeles Clippers.

Los Angeles tips off their 2012-13 NBA regular season schedule on Wednesday, October 31 (Halloween) at Staples Center against the Memphis Grizzlies. These two franchises battled one another last season in an exciting 1st round series in the western conference that reached seven games.

The Clippers emerged victorious but the series was exciting and hard fought should be an excellent way to kickoff the season!

Some additional highlights for the upcoming season are the following: The Clips will host the San Antonio Spurs on November 7th at Staples Center. This will be a nationally televised game so hopefully L.A. can avoid embarrassing themselves as they did against the Spurs last seaason in the Western Conference Semifinals.

November 14th will be huge, as LeBron James and the NBA champion Miami Heat arrive at Staples Center to face off against the Clippers. On Christmas Night, December 25th, the Clippers will face the Denver Nuggets at 7:30 p.m. at Staples Center.

Personally, Lefty feels the Clippers got hosed on this one. The NBA could have done better than the Nuggets, but at least it’s a nationally televised game.

The Clippers will play eight of their first nine games at STAPLES Center this season so they will have the opportunity to start strong as they embark on their quest to win the Pacific Division and advance further into the NBA playoffs.
