Kings try to avoid three-game shutout streak

Tomorrow night the Kings have a chance to break a franchise record, but this is one they’re going to want to avoid. Coming off two consecutive 1-0 losses, the Kings better hope they at least score one goal in order avoid a three-game shutout — something Los Angeles hasn’t seen.

When it comes down to it, the team is having major issues with their top line. There’s no excuse for suffering from two shutouts in a row, especially to the Coyotes and Avalanche who haven’t been so hot themselves this season. The Kings have played nine games throughout the month of February and during that time Dustin Brown hasn’t recorded a single goal and Anze Kopitar only has two under his belt.

The way things are looking, the Kings might have to rely on their rookies more than they expected to. Jordan Nolan has been playing very well in his first four NHL games, recording a goal and showing he deserves to be Kopitar’s left winger. While some may think that’s not enough to earn him a position on the first line, Nolan’s done a great job bringing energy and excitement to the ice, something the rest of the team hasn’t been doing too well lately. His hard work is very apparent and will serve him well the rest of the season.
