5 Reasons Why Milwaukee Brewers Defeated Houston Astros

The Milwaukee Brewers got back to .500 Tuesday night after defeating the Houston Astros for a major league leading 11th time in a row. Milwaukee finally busted out the offense with 13 hits and nine runs, but the relief pitching is still a major concern.
Manager Ron Roenicke is beginning to have a big problem on his hands. If there are no relievers besides Francisco Rodriguez and John Axford who can successfully get through an inning then the Brewers are in trouble. Luckily, almost everybody that stepped up to the plate contributed in some way, except for Ryan Braun who went 0-for-5.
Here are five reasons why the Brewers were able to beat the Astros:
1. Home Runs
Milwaukee hit four home runs to bring their season total to 24, which leads the National League. Travis Ishikawa hit his first homer since August of 2010, Corey Hart went yard for the fifth time this season, Rickie Weeks broke out of his slump with a three-run homer and Carlos Gomez hit his first home run of the season in his only plate appearance of the night. I think many fans are surprised Milwaukee is leading the NL in homers without Prince Fielder on the squad this year, but there is no doubt the team can still hit.
2. Starting Pitching
Randy Wolf recorded his first victory of the season with his best pitching performance so far this year. He surrendered two earned runs on four hits while striking out four and walking four in 6.0 innings pitched. This is his second-consecutive outing he has gone six innings which hopefully is a sign of good things to come. It is critical Wolf finds his command soon because the Brewers are going to need him in order to fight for a division title.
3. Hitting
The Brewers recorded 13 hits, which tied their season-high. Nyjer Morgan broke out of his season-long slump and got three hits while Alex Gonzalez also recorded three hits as he continues to surprise the Brewers with his incredible offense. Milwaukee is capable of doing this every night they just need to feed off each other.
4. Corey Hart
Hart has been sensational this season as he finds a way to contribute every single game. He has five home runs, 12 RBI, 14 runs, eight walks, one stolen base, a .286 batting average and a .679 slugging percentage in 56 plate appearances. His numbers are very impressive but they would be even more amazing if the top of the lineup could get on base in front of him. Hart is not only a reason why the Brewers defeated the Astros, but he is one of the main reasons why Milwaukee has won nine games this season.
5. John Axford
Axford shut the door on Houston for the second night in a row. He recorded his fourth save of the season and 47th consecutive regular-season save, which tied Brad Lidge for the fourth-longest streak in MLB history. Things are going well for the Brewers when Axford is able to come in on a nightly basis and shut down the opposing team’s offense.
