Milwaukee Brewers vs. San Francisco Giants: Pitching Matchups
The Milwaukee Brewers (11-14) will take on the San Francisco Giants (12-13) this weekend at AT&T Park. The Brewers are desperate for a win after losing two games in a row and taking a series loss to the last place San Diego Padres. Meanwhile, the Giants are in a similar situation as they are coming off a rough series where they were swept by the Miami Marlins. This should be a competitive matchup considering both teams need to get their season back on track.

Zack Greinke (3-1, 3.94 ERA) vs. Tim Lincecum (2-2, 5.74 ERA)
Zack Greinke pitched well in his last time on the mound in his second start against the St. Louis Cardinals this season. The Cardinals have been chewing pitchers up this year but Greinke has only allowed one earned run on 11 hits while striking out nine in 13.0 innings pitched. Now he will have to take his talents to San Francisco where he has never pitched before.
Tim Linececum has recorded two consecutive wins after starting the season out 0-2 in his first three appearances. In those three starts he surrendered 16 earned runs on 22 hits, but since then he has only given up one run on seven hits. Lincecum is starting to throw his best stuff which could be very bad for the Brewers hitters, who went scoreless in back-to-back games against the Padres.

Randy Wolf (2-2, 6.84 ERA) vs. Madison Bumgarner (4-1, 2.53 ERA)
Randy Wolf has a 2.85 career ERA in 20 starts against the Giants. He has struggled with his command in every appearance this season and is not throwing his fastball like he used to. Wolf is coming off two victories in his last two starts but he is still giving up plenty of hits and runs. If he does not get control over his pitches soon the Brewers will be in for a long season.
Madison Bumgarner is off to a great start this season. He has won four consecutive games after struggling in his first outing of the year. He has given up only one run in three of his four victories and does not seem to walk many batters. Bumgarner throws a lot of strikes and has been able to eat up innings. In his last nine starts in San Francisco he has allowed two runs or less.

Shaun Marcum (1-1, 3.19 ERA) vs. Matt Cain (1-2, 2.35 ERA)
Shaun Marcum has been one of the more consistent pitchers for a Milwaukee ball club that has struggled frequently this season. He has taken a no-decision in his last three outings despite pitching quality games. Marcum’s best game so far this season came in his latest appearance where he only allowed three hits against the Padres in 7.0 innings, however, the Brewers gave up the lead in the eighth inning.
Matt Cain pitches very well at home where he hardly ever gives up runs. In fact, he had a 21-inning scoreless streak that dated back to last season until the Marlins ended it last Tuesday. Cain has suffered two consecutive losses which means the Brewers should have a decent shot at jumping on him early. If they let him settle in, something he has done quite frequently this season, they may never be able to get a hit off him. Cain has pitched a complete game in two outings while he went 8.0 innings in his last appearance.
