The Milwaukee Brewers (13-17) proved in a 8-3 win against the Cincinnati Reds (15-14) Tuesday night that the team is quite good once they get everything clicking together.

Milwaukee put forth a solid team effort that garnered a complete team win. Yovani Gallardo (2-3) went six innings with two earned runs on four hits. In Gallardo’s defense, the two runs came off of a Jay Bruce homer, who is hitting as good as anyone in the National League right now.

The offense provided plenty of run support courtesy of third baseman Aramis Ramirez (1-3, 3 RBI), catcher Jonathan Lucroy (2-4, 2 RBI), left fielder Ryan Braun (3-4, 1 RBI) and shortstop Cesar Izturis (2-4, 1 RBI) with Gallardo even supporting his own cause with an RBI single in the fifth inning on his first hit of the season.

Milwaukee’s relievers were even on the same page for the most part with Kameron Loe and Tim Dillard pitching scoreless innings. Jose Veras did surrender one earned run in the eighth inning, but the game was out of reach at that point.

This was definitely one of the more complete games the Brewers have played this season which is hopefully a sign of good things to come. Milwaukee was consistent in every facet, something they have been lacking throughout the year. It is critical the Brewers use this as a building block to string some wins together after they hit a low point in the season when they only won three games on their nine-game road trip.

The Brewers desperately needed this win to stop their three-game losing skid and to get a game up on a division opponent. Milwaukee will now have the opportunity to get a series win, something they have not done since April 23-25 when they took 2-out-of-3 from the Houston Astros. The Brewers will have a solid chance with Zack Greinke taking the mound but it will not come easy as the Reds will have Johnny Cueto, who is one of the hottest pitchers in the NL.
