Minnesota Twins’ Justin Morneau coming back this season?
[picappgallerysingle id="9305527"]First baseman Justin Morneau is talking about coming back and playing for the Minnesota Twins yet this season. Morneau wants to, despite still feeling the effects of his early-July concussion. According to the Pioneer Press, Morneau says there are more good days than bad days at this point in his recovery. And that’s a good thing, but does it mean he’ll be ready to play for the Twins before the end of the year?
Justin Morneau has been away from Target Field of late. Mostly because doctors instructed him to stay away, but also because it’s difficult to be just a spectator. Morneau led the Twins in home runs, RBI, and batting average before he was sidelined by his concussion on July 7th.
So, to watch the pennant race instead of playing in it for the second year in a row is taking an emotional toll – and perhaps slowing Morneau’s recovery. Apparently, the stress from watching games from the Twins dugout was exacerbating Morneau’s symptoms.
And it seems that staying away from the Twins and Target Field – and not hitting – is helping. Morneau says that the last few days have been his best, symptom-wise. Morneau, at the behest of his doctors, is focusing only on cardio in his workouts, and leaving the hitting alone until the doctors are satisfied with Morneau’s cardio results.
But one thing is for sure: Justin Morneau is determined to play for the Minnesota Twins again this year. If determination and sheer will have anything to do with it, Morneau will be back this season. And though the Twins are playing awfully well right now, we could sure use him.

Man up Justin! It’s time to get out and play for your pay. Football players take hits like yours all the time and continue to come back every week and the hit you took was not that hard, in fact I have taken harder hits than that training in the Marine Corps. I can not believe that you are still reeling from that knock to your noggin, get out there and start earning that money you are being paid, also, don’t wait to come back in the playoffs and make yourself look like a hero. PANTY WASTE!
Justin is doing the right thing. Look at Corie Koski. He had a concussion and had to retire from double vision. If you are so tough just because you were a Marine, you stand up there and have someone throw a 100 mph fastball at your head to see how you have recovered. That is all it would take and he could be in the koo koo house. I have also had concussions and played through them because i did not know I had a concussion but I was wondering why I was not catching the ball or wondering where i was at. That is how bad coaches were back in the 50-60′s.
So take your toughness and stuff it!!!

Timothy, perhaps you should have taken some time away from your training in the corp. You are correct that football players take harder hits than this every week, but their helmets are designed to absorb more than a baseball helmet. I think the Twins are doing the right thing by making sure Justin is healthy before he goes back on the field. Other teams and other sports should address the concussion issue like the Twins have. It would be better for the sports in the long run. Oh by the way, take any sick days yourself?
Looks like our boy from the north has figured out a way to get $80 mill. with no effort and no expectations. After this he will probably develop a sprained hair. No one would know when that would get better either.
Pullin for you Morneau, I can see the doctors are pulling yours strings now instead of Pitchers. I think a few looks at Pitchers squirming on the mound would do you some good.
The Twinks will pull the perverbial rabbit out of the hat in the opening series of the play-offs. Morneau will pinch hit in a pivotal moment and turn that moment into a Kirby Puckett 6th game memory.
Give him a break you don’t know how hard he got hit keep it up man get better so we can add up some mire home runs
I think the Twins need to keep Punto off the playoff roster, and keep Tolbert, Casilla or both.
