Pioneer Press Strongly Believes QB Donovan McNabb Will Be With Vikings Next Season
With numerous members inside the organization unsure about Joe Webb as the team’s quarterback, it appears the Minnesota Vikings will be looking to add another quarterback this offseason. Now, it appears one local beat writer has a good idea of who will be under center for the Vikings next season–Washington Redskins quarterback Donovan McNabb.
The Pioneer Press analyzed the quarterback situation for the Vikings on Wednesday and came up with the conclusion that McNabb is the best answer for the team next season. With the No. 12 pick in this year’s draft, it seems highly unlikely the team will land a potential franchise quarterback in Auburn’s Cam Newton or Missouri’s Blaine Gabbert–so the team’s best option would be to acquire a veteran quarterback like McNabb to play for a year or two to help Webb develop.
After being replaced by Rex Grossman for the final three games of the 2010 season, the Redskins are expected to either trade or release McNabb once a new CBA is in place. Minnesota was one of the top destinations for McNabb to land last year when trade talks heated up–but that was also when his former head coach Brad Childress was there.
Still, the Vikings are one of a few teams that are in desperate need of a quarterback this offseason–so keep an eye on this situation over the next few weeks.
