New Name Emerges for Vikings Defensive Coordinator Job
Indianapolis Colts defensive backs coach Alan Williams may be the new defensive coordinator of the Minnesota Vikings. According to NFL.com, Williams interviewed this week and apparently has made quite the impression.
Alan Williams has spent the past 10 seasons with Indianapolis and was on the same staff there in 05 & 06 as current Vikings head coach Leslie Frazier. It sounds like the Vikings want to stay with their current ‘Cover 2′ scheme, and will not be switching to the ’3-4′ as previously rumored.
Bringing in Williams would ensure the current system stays in place, and give the coaching staff some new blood. The word is that the Vikings have officially offered the position to Williams, and expect him to accept as soon as Thursday.
