The Braves rallied from an early 1-0 deficit with a four-run third inning and went on to beat the Florida Marlins 4-2 this afternoon in Grapefruit League action.
Braves’ ace-in-the-making Tommy Hanson was in midseason form for Atlanta, pitching five strong innings of one-run baseball, while lowering his Spring ERA to a microscopic 1.93.
Hanson was the winning pitcher for the Braves and lefty Michael Dunn picked up a save after tossing a 1-2-3 ninth inning.
Offensively, Yunel Escobar went 2-for-3 in the game, raising his spring batting average to .360, and Brian McCann, Jason Heyward, and Matt Diaz all went 1-for-3 for Atlanta.
The Braves improved their Grapefruit League record to 10-5 with the win, while the loss dropped the Marlins’ spring record to 8-7.
The Braves will play at Roger Dean Stadium in Jupiter, Florida (the spring training home of the Marlins and the St. Louis Cardinals) again tomorrow afternoon when they take on the Cardinals at 1:05 ET.
Come on out and watch the Braves and Cardinals play!
