St. Louis visits Pittsburg for a three-game set against the Pirates starting tonight at 6:05 PM CT. This will begin St. Louis’ ten-game road-trip, which includes 17 of their next 20 away from Busch Stadium.

St. Louis is 5-1 vs. Pittsburg this season, and look to get Kyle Lohse (1-5, 6.79 ERA) back on track tonight against Ross Ohlendorf (1-10, 3.90 ERA). This is Lohse’s second start since returning from the disabled-list after a rough outing vs. the Cubs in a 9-7 loss.

This is a critical stretch for the revamped St. Louis Cardinals (67-54, 26-31 away) especially since the three home games are against the division-leading Reds.  The Cards currently trail Cincinnati by 3 1/2 games as of Monday.

After leaving Pittsburg, the Cardinals head to Washington and Houston, three of the five worst teams in the National League.  For the most part the Cards have played to the level of their competition this season so Cardinal fans hope that trend ends tonight.
