Brewers Daily Buzz November 23, 2010
The Milwaukee Brewers have made some offers to a few players according to GM Doug Melvin. One player the Brewers have offered a contract to is Eric Hinske. The 33-year-old native of Menasha, Wis., batted .256 for the Braves in 2010 with 11 home runs and 51 RBIs in 320 at-bats. Those are good numbers and he would give the Brewers a home run threat off the bench. Now this is all well and good, but my opinion why not bring someone up from the minors to take those swings instead of getting an older player from somewhere else.
Brewers have also have made offers to Chris Capuano and Craig Counsell. Capuano went 4-4 with a 3.95 ERA including 2-2 with a 2.91 ERA in six September starts. Counsell batted .250, mostly off the Brewers’ bench. I hope the Brewers can get these two players signed to a contract. As far as Hinske signing him really will not make much of a difference too the Brewers.
