Thankfully, Los Angeles Angels starting pitcher Jered Weaver wasn’t suffering too badly from the stomach virus that caused him to miss his scheduled start on Sunday against the Tampa Bay Rays.
Instead, Weaver will open up the upcoming series with the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park. The Red Sox will now face two of the toughest right-handers in the league back to back, having faced Felix Hernandez of the Seattle Mariners on Sunday afternoon. It doesn’t get much easier for the Sox, facing Dan Haren the following day.
Monday (4:10 PDT): Jered Weaver (6-0, 0.99) vs. Clay Buchholz (1-3, 5.33)
Tuesday (4:10 PDT): Dan Haren (4-1, 1.23) vs. Jon Lester (3-1, 2.52)
Wednesday (4:10 PDT): Ervin Santana (1-3, 4.89) vs. Josh Beckett (2-1, 2.65)
Thursday (10:35 PDT): Joel Pineiro (0-0, 1.29) vs. John Lackey (2-3, 5.65).
The Red Sox have had the Angels’ number over the past two seasons, including a recent four-game sweep in Anaheim just two weeks ago.
Even former Angel John Lackey has joined in on the Halo bashing, now 4-0 against his former mates.
