Royal Romp: Kansas City Topples Baltimore 9-1 In Matinee Rubber-Match At The K
Another very strong start from Bruce Chen was supported by 9 runs of offense on Thursday afternoon as the Royals closed out a series victory against the Orioles with a dominating win. Chen allowed an RBI single to Adam Jones in the 1st inning but regained his composure and it was smooth-sailing from there on out.
Huge day for the Melk-man, Cabrera went 3-for-4 with a walk and 4 RBI’s including a home run. There were doubles aplenty on the board with Wilson Betemit, Chris Getz, Alcides Escobar, Cabrera, and Billy Butler all racking up two-sackers. Alex Gordon & Mike Aviles got in on the scoring action with an RBI each.
Ironically, the red-hot Jeff Francoeur, who swatted his 8th round-tripper of the year in Wednesday night’s game, went 0-for-4.
Reliever Jeremy Jeffress looked really good in 2 complete innings to close out the game. ‘JJ’ retired all 6 batters he faced in succession.
Up next for Kansas City is a 3-game weekend set with old friend David Dejesus and the Oakland Athletics. As always, you can check-in on Royals Treatment for a complete series preview!
