The Philadelphia Phillies just signed Scott Podsednik to a minor league contract, according to ESPN’s Ken Rosenthal. Podsednik is a 35-year old left-handed outfielder who should provide the Phillies depth in the absence of Shane Victorino on the disabled list.
Podsednik had signed a deal with the Toronto Blue Jays’ Triple-A team earlier this year but asked for his release and got it, after hitting .254/.366/.356. Podsednik batted .297 in the major leagues last season after splitting time between the Kansas City Royals and Los Angeles Dodgers.
Podsednik stole 35 bases last season. He has 301 in his career.
