After a sweep at the hands of the White Sox, the Red Sox now welcome the Athletics to Fenway Park as they try to snap a four-game losing streak.
The A’s were also swept in a three-game series at home this week, getting out-scored by a total of 19-5 by the Yankees.
Oakland (27-30) and Boston (30-26) split a brief two-game series in the Bay Area back in April.
This weekend marks John Lackey’s return to the rotation after missing two weeks with an elbow injury. Lackey gets the ball in the series finale on Sunday afternoon.
