Braves Activate Heyward, Starting Him Tonight
The Atlanta Braves’ star right-fielder has rejoined the team and has been activated from the disabled list. He will start his first game since going on the DL on May 22. He will be starting against the New York Mets, who has won 3 consecutive games against the Braves.
Heyward’s return is one that the team desperately needed. They have been playing the past few games with every starting outfielder on the DL. Heyward went on the DL first. Nate McLouth followed the next day after straining his oblique. Martin Prado went on the DL last week with a staph infection. He will miss another couple weeks probably as he tries to recover from the infection.
Although the Braves have been hit with a rash of injuries, they have been able to keep their head above water. They have played well of late and their anemic offense has shown signs of life in recent games.
Heyward’s presence in the lineup will inevitably be a pick me up for the team. He has proven to be one of the team’s best hitters, in spite of being only in his second season in the majors.
