POLL: Which Player Can the Red Sox Least Afford to Lose to Injury?

The Red Sox own the best record in the American League and they’ve won 13 of their last 15 games, but it’s not all good news on Yawkey Way.

The team has placed Carl Crawford (hamstring) and Clay Buchholz (lower back) on the 15-day disabled list, leaving a gaping hole in both the lineup and rotation for the next few weeks.

The Sox had avoided significant injuries to this point in the season, but thanks to some weak upcoming interleague opponents (including San Diego and Pittsburgh), the losses are unlikely to prove too costly.

Still, injuries played a large role in derailing Boston’s 2010 season, and a string of similar health issues might be the only thing standing between this year’s club and another World Series appearance.

So, which member of the current Red Sox can the team least afford to lost to the DL here in 2011?

Crawford has been pretty much of a bust. But leave him in the line-up. Move Redick to RF if they must but they can’t not have Ellsbury’s bat and glove in the line-up. I think they’re fine in the outfield as is. What would a trade accomplish?
