Breaking News: Boston Red Sox RHP Clay Buchholz Has Stress Fracture In His Back: Out for the Year?
Reports are coming out of Boston this morning that right hand pitcher Clay Buchholz has a stress fracture in his lower back. This is a significant blow to the Red Sox rotation as they fell short on the Ubaldo Jimenez trade front. Yes, they did pick up Eric Bedard but I don’t really believe he’s gonna be able to replace what Buchholz brings to the rotation.
What does this mean for Boston? I don’t want to say they can’t win, but what I do want to make clear…it’s going to be a much tougher road from here on out. When you lose when you lose one of your horses, it’s tough to come back. However, there still is enough talent in the rotation led by Jon Lester and Josh Beckett to make some hay for teams down the stretch. Oh yeah, did I mention Boston can flat out mash? I don’t want to say they aren’t the favorite- but again…it’s going to be a tougher road.
