Ryan Doumit Expected to Return Wednesday Vs. Cubs
Pittsburgh Pirates catcher Ryan Doumit, he of the two-month ankle sprain, is expected to return to the team tomorrow for game three of this four-game series against the Chicago Cubs.
Doumit began his rehabbing with the Class A Bradenton Marauders a few weeks ago, moving up to the AAA Indianapolis last week.
After going hitless in his first three games at Indy, Doumit has recorded four in his last twelve at bats.
The move has not yet been confirmed by GM Neal Huntington, but should be announced sometime soon.
Catcher Eric Fryer will likely be sent to AAA to make room for Doumit on the roster.
Doumit, 30, was hitting .269 with four home runs and 15 RBI in 34 games before the injury.
