On an August night in Kansas City, it was a 4-3 Red Sox lead over the Royals in the bottom of the seventh inning at Kauffman Stadium.
But most of the New England Sports Network’s cameras were focused on an adventurous praying mantis who was climbing near the Red Sox bullpen.
The mantis was seen walking in front of reliver Daniel Bard, who was warming up at the time in the event that starter Josh Beckett had to be removed from the game.

What may be surprising to some is the fact that this isn’t the first time a praying mantis has made an appearance at a Major League Baseball game this season.
In late July, a praying mantis sat on top of Clay Hensley’s hat and attacked Logan Morrison of the Marlins in a game against the Nationals in Washington, D.C.
