Yankees Claim Carlos Pena off Waivers From the Chicago Cubs
Well Cubs fans- Carlos Pena has been claimed. I think I can say for must of us that we were all hoping he would be traded prior to the deadline- a deal wasn’t made which made it seem like Pena would be here all year. Not so fast. The New York Yankees have claimed the first basemen off of waivers.
This means that Chicago Cubs have a certain amount of time to trade Pena to the Yankees or pull him back. I expect the Cubs to pull Pena back if they don’t get value for him- but who knows. Randy Bush is acting as GM and isn’t in the running for the GM spot next year- so your guess is as good as mine in regards to this story.
Personally? I hope they trade Pena as long as their getting a higher level prospect in return. I wouldn’t give him away- but at the same time…he’s not someone that should be “untouchable” for this bad team.
We’ll see what happens.
In the mean time- the Cubs take on the Braves tonight at Wrigley field.
