MLB Trade Rumors published their latest notes on the Marlins Saturday and one thing that caught my eye was their quib on Marlins ace Josh Johnson. MLBTR stated that Josh Johnson will ‘likely’ be a Marlin come 2012. Hopefully for Marlins fans he will be in good health.
MLBTR also took a look on who may not be in a Marlins’ uniform in 2012 and who could be. There is speculation around the Marlins clubhouse that Javier Vazquez may retire at the end of the season. Vazquez has won his past four straight decisions. Gaby Sanchez said this, “He’s accomplished so much. It’s time to just walk away on a high note and be with his family.” So maybe Vazquez is on his way out.
As the Marlins look to increase their payroll for the 2012 season, they could have their eyes set on Rangers starter C.J. Wilson, according to ESPN’s Buster Olney. Wilson has boasted a 16-7 record and 2.97 ERA. The only problem there is whether or not Wilson would want to play for Florida.
