Murphy’s homer gives Marlins win over Nationals in 13 innings
Donnie Murphy’s two-run home run in the 13th inning Saturday as the Florida Marlins defeated the Washington Nationals 4-1. Murphy finished 1-for-2 with the two RBI from the home run.
Murphy scored home catcher Brett Hayes in the act. Hayes came in to run for John Buck who singled to lead off the 13th inning. After Greg Dobbs struck out, Murphy would connect on a home run. Omar Infante would single home a third run of the 13th inning. Infante brought home Mike Stanton who doubled.
Clay Hensley got his fifth win in relief. The starter Chris Volstad lasted seven innings. He let up one run on six hits and struck out three batters. Leo Nunez picked up his 36th save of the season.
