The Miami Marlins are interested in Chicago Cubs ace Carlos Zambrano. However, there’s a catch. The Marlins want the Cubs to pick up a chunk of his salary that he is owed next season as the Marlins aren’t expected to make the $100 million payroll.
It seems like the Marlins are getting more and more interested as the days pass especially since Ozzie Guillen and Zambrano have met on numerous occasions. He is due $18 million in 2012 and has a $19.25 million vesting option for 2013. Big Z went 9-7 with a 4.82 ERA this season, but was 43-26 with a 3.96 ERA over the past four years.
