Marlins a suitor for Gio Gonzalez?
According to ESPN’s Jason Churchill the Oakland Athletics are looking to shop around Gio Gonzalez this offseason. The question comes in to play is if the Miami Marlins are going to be a potential suitor for the lefty.
Last season, Gonzalez was 16-12 with 3.12 ERA, 197 strikeouts and 1.32 WHIP. The A’s would be willing to sell high on his value since Gonzalez qualifies as a super two this season. A’s are looking for offense and that is where the young Marlins outfielder Logan Morrison comes into play.
More and more each day the higher-ups are speculating that Morrison could be the first to be traded away from Miami this offseason due to his gripes with the front office last season. Morrison hit 23 homers last year and drove in 72 RBI. He was also on the verge of being traded to Chicago in-exchange for Ozzie Guillen according to the Miami Herald.
Gonzalez would be a nice addition to the staff but it would be interesting to see how he would fit in the National League.
