Derek Lowe Traded to the Cleveland Indians
The Atlanta Braves have kicked off baseball’s offseason by finally finding a suitor for RHP Derek Lowe. Lowe struggled horribly in 2011 to say the least and is a main reason why the Braves choked down the stretch.
The Cleveland Indians have traded minor league pitcher Chris Jones to the Braves for Lowe, and decided that only paying 5 million of his 15 million owed was well worth it.
This gives the Indians a much deeper look in the rotation with Justin Masterson, Ubaldo Jimenez, and Fausto Carmona. I wouldn’t expect a cy young year, but Lowe returns to form even a little bit…this will be a win deal for Cleveland.
Gotta love the beginning of the end.
