Diamondbacks Re-Sign Aaron Hill
ESPN’s Buster Olney is reporting the Arizona Diamondbacks have re-signed second baseman Aaron Hill for two more years through 2013. The contract is said to be worth $11 million over the 2-year span.
Just two seasons ago, Hill was putting up numbers with the Blue Jays comparable to Mark Teixeira. He was a different player in 2010 for Toronto, so they traded him away to the National League.
I expect Hill to return to form next season in the National League West Division on a full-time basis. The pitching will be much better in the west next year, but Hill should stand out. Once in a while a guy has a rough year in the prime of his career for no apparent reason. I feel that was the case with Hill last year in Toronto. A fresh start and new contract should be motivation enough for the former all-star second baseman in 2011.
