The Philadelphia Phillies have re-signed catcher Brian Schneider to a one-year deal, according to SI’s Jon Heyman. Schneider, 35, spent the last two seasons backing up Carlos Ruiz behind the plate.
Schneider’s new deal is for $1 million. He hit just .176 last year, but played solidly behind the plate, even serving as the personal catcher for rookie Vance Worley.
Schneider is a .247 career hitter in 12 seasons.
