Philadelphia Phillies Sign Outfielder Scott Podsednik to Minor League Deal
The Philadelphia Phillies will be bringing back outfielder Scott Podsednik on a minor-league contract. Podsednik spent 2011 with the Triple-A Lehigh Valley IronPigs, hitting .245 in 59 plate appearances. He also missed the majority of the season with an injury.
Podsednik is a 10-year major league veteran with a .279 career batting average to go with 301 stolen bases. He led the NL with 70 steals back in 2004 for the Milwaukee Brewers.
Podsednik, 35, plays all three outfield positions, although he is best suited in left field. His contract next year includes an invitation to spring training with the big league club.
