Bill here (lol), I’m not very impressed with that line up of top prospects. Banuelos, Betances, and Montero I’ve known about for a while. I’m excited to see how they will develop granted they aren’t dealt this winter. But everyone else as you mentioned seems pretty mediocre. I hope the Yanks don’t deal Montero after seeing what he did during the end of the season. I think the top 3 prospects should be kept. But if they are considering trades involving them, I wouldn’t complain about a deal for Josh Johnson.

There’s no way JJ gets moved at this point. The Marlins didn’t bring in Reyes, Bell, and maybe more top notch players to deal their best starter (when healthy).

Probably not, but what if they decide to bring in C.J. Wilson and/or Yu Darvish? Still not likely that they would turn around and trade Johnson, but he has had shoulder issues and he’s owed a good bit of money. Maybe they clear his salary so they can spend money on a SP (or two) with a better track record of health. The chances are slim, but I’m not quite ready to put them at zero.

I hear what you’re saying. The pitchers listed here outside of Betances and Banuelos don’t really possess a high ceiling or a ton of upside. There are some more high upside arms at the low levels of the organization, but guys like Adam Warren, Hector Noesi and David Phelps are interesting to me because they are so close to contributing to a Major League club. They could be packaged in a trade or one of them could step into the Yanks rotation if a guy like Ivan Nova gets moved in a blockbuster.
