Buster Olney of ESPN reports the Brewers are pretty much out on Prince Fielder, and are moving on. If this is true the Brewers must land a big name in Aramis Ramirez or Jimmy Rollins to give NL MVP Ryan Braun the protection he needs to be successful.
Jerry Hairston Jr. has just signed a two-year/$6 million (plus incentives) deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers. I thought it was a no-brainer to re-sign Hairston considering the impact he made on the team last year but I guess the Brewers have a different opinion. The only thing I can think of is Melvin did not want to give him that kind of money. The Brewers desperately need to find a shortstop, maybe the Rollins deal will happen after all.
