Philadelphia Phillies Trade Ben Francisco to Toronto Blue Jays for Left-Handed Relief Pitcher
The Philadelphia Phillies made another offseason move today, sending reserve outfielder Ben Francisco to the Toronto Blue Jays for left-handed relief pitcher Frank Gailey.
Francisco was brought over midway through the 2009 season from the Cleveland Indians in the trade that also gave the Phillies Cliff Lee. In parts of three years with the Phillies, Francisco batted .259 with 17 home runs and 75 RBIs. His most memorable moment was a pinch-hit three-run home run against the St. Louis Cardinals in Game 3 of the NLDS.
Gailey was 5-6 with a 3.41 ERA in 45 relief appearances between single-A and double-A last season.
