Former New York Met Carlos Beltran Lands With St. Louis Cardinals
Just prior to this past season’s July 31st Trade Deadline, the New York Mets traded outfielder and former All-Star, Carlos Beltran to the San Francisco Giants. The move netted the New York Mets Zack Wheeler – a.k.a. the organization’s No. 1 prospect. Carlos Beltran’s stay on the West Coast was short however. Instead of re-signing with the San Francisco Giants, he signed a two year deal worth $26 million to play with the St. Louis Cardinals.
Not that I was paying much attention to Beltran’s market, but I never really saw him signing in St. Louis. I think it is a solid move for them provided he can stay healthy. Of course that is a pretty big issue that he has struggled with over the past several years. I never envisioned him back in Queens so there is no disappointment over the fact that he won’t be back in a Mets uniform. Really, the only thing I want to know is how quickly he and Adam Wainwright discuss the curveball that ended the 2006 NLCS.
