Howie Kendrick will not have to change his mailing address as he resigns with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. Kendrick, who is 28 years old, forgoes his final year of arbitration eligibility and signs a 4 year deal worth $33.5 million. The deal is currently pending a physical as reported by Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports.
Kendrick had his best year in 2011, batting .285 with 18 home runs and 63 RBIs while also representing the Angels at the All-Star Game. These numbers may see an increase because Kendrick is projected to bat in front of newly acquired Albert Pujols.
This signing will provide stability on the right side of the diamond for the next four years. It is also reported from the Angels GM, Jerry Dipoto, that they are also discussing an extension with shortstop Erick Aybar. The Angels are rumored to have a team salary around $160 million for the 2012 season.
