Even though nobody expects the New York Mets to make much noise in 2012, Sandy Alderson and Co. are still doing what they can to make the team as competitive as possible. The latest target is outfielder Cody Ross. The 2010 playoff hero is obviously not the type of player that is going to carry the team, but Cody Ross could provide some solid depth in the outfield and provide manager Terry Collins with some match-up flexibility as well. I still find it interesting that the New York Mets are still being linked to free agents despite the fact that they said they were done adding players to the big league roster. Of course, I should know better than to believe what general managers around the league tell the media. I’m still waiting for some more exciting moves (i.e. trading David Wright), but in the meantime we just have to be patient and survive these quiet times.
