Cuban outfielder Yoenis Cespedes moved one step closer to free agency today. According to a report from MLB.com Cespedes has been granted residency in the Dominican Republic. He will now await a decision from Major League Baseball in hopes of being declared a free agent. Once free agency is granted Cespedes will likely draw interest from the Cubs, Marlins, Orioles, and Indians. The 26 year old outfielder is said to be seeking a contract in excess of the $30.25 million Aroldis Chapman received from the Reds.
